Exactly two years after Amazon MGM Studios acquired global rights to the Warhammer 40,000 game from Games Workshop for Henry Cavill to star in and executive produce a cinematic universe, there has been movement on the project. The first piece of the potential franchise, a TV series, is now officially in development at the studio.
According to sources, a mini-room was assembled to hone in on a creative direction for the Warhammer universe. Based on the material produced by the writers, a decision was made to proceed with the development of a TV series as the first project, sources said. No showrunner has been locked in yet, with a deal being, ahem, hammered out.
Im new to the Warhammer stories, but played a little bit of some of their video games. Always had an interest in the franchise but it's lore is so deep i never knew where to start. Will be cool to see a show on it. Plus I've known Cavill to be a fan of if for years so I'm sure he will do amazing in this and even probably have a role in the writers room or help out make some creative decisions.
