They might look basic now in 2019, but at the time (1987) there weren't many rap albums, and graphic design has come along way.

In 1987 rappers weren't holding guns on album covers.

In 1987 rappers weren't wearing Gucci, excessive jewelry and holding $100 bills.


Those album covers might look basic now, but they were groundbreaking at the time.



Somebody mentioned the Illmatic cover in the other thread, in fact the Illmatic, It Was Written, I Am, Nastradamus covers deserve a mention.
