The Nelly vs KRS-One Appreciation Thread

5 Grand

Old School Godfather
First of all, Criminal Minded is one of my favorite albums.

But KRS was talking reckless and was washed up by the time this battle happened.

You Don't Really Want It - KRS One (Response to Roc The Mic)

Basically, Nelly sold 9X platinum and KRS flopped.

Then Nelly went on to release 2 albums, Sweat and Suit that debuted at #1 and #2 on the same day.

To be a old nigga yourself you sho do be shitting on the music you came up on a lot here lately

Lol i hate to be the one.but for hip hop.Guess who this was really for.

Yeah that's how it started.

Nelly made a song called I'm #1

KRS had already made a song called I'm Still #1 in 1988. So KRS tried to diss Nelly because Nelly said, "I'm Number 1".

Nelly also had a line in the song that said, "I'm tired of people talking about Real Hip Hop/Half The Time it be the ones who's album flopped.

KRS took offense to that line and that's how the beed started.

Here's KRS's song, I'm Still #1 which was a banger back when I was in high school.

No disrespect to KRS but I never really rocked with him.

His last solid album was also his last album with a major label, which came out in 1997.

After I Got Next, he went independent. In his interviews he says he makes more money per album doing it independent. He can tour and do shows and sell new CDs for $20 and keep most of the profit.

However, he also hasn't had a hit record since 1997.
