Suburban ni99as roll call

Grew up in the city until I was 8yrs old..........then we moved to the county.

Don't consider myself a suburbanite though.

Simply because, there's a difference between people who only know the suburbs.........and people who moved from the city to the suburbs.

Basically, the ones who grew up solely in the suburbs don't know anything about growing up in the city.

Whereas, the ones who moved to the suburbs from the city have both experiences to draw on.

Ironically, over the years, the suburb gradually turned into a 50/50 black/white mix.

Probably slightly more black than white.

I grew up in the suburbs. To be fair though, I'm from the South, so even parts of an actual southern city might be considered the suburbs by Northeastern standards.

I do gotta ask tho why do former hood miggas hate everything? Like they hate the hood but they hate being in the suburbs cuz it’s not hood?

Hood in Saginaw and Detroit proper (unlike a lot of muhfuckas that claim the city but lived in the burbs or downriver).

Moms moved to Southfield when I was 20. Even then I still spent most of my time in Detroit between work, school, and hanging out.

Nowadays tho? I'm in the boonies.
