Why not? Monogamy can get boring. Modernity is characterized by flexibility and transience; everything is temporary and one has to be able to uproot move at will, sometimes at a moment's notice
This is evidenced everywhere, from housing to work, and it has fed the contract and temp industries.

If you have a longterm partner it's a liability.
