Would You Let Your Kids Drink/Smoke at Home?

This was an idea based off of Boosies recent comments. It's not entirely related, but I think it fits.

I have known people whose parents let them drink or smoke weed at home because they think it's a safer alternative then letting them experiment with their friends. I guess the idea is to take away the allure of having to "sneak" and do these things or feel like they need to hide anything.

What does ABW think about this? Is it effective? Would you let your kids do this?
 
I would rather my children abstain from using drugs/alcohol until they are grown and out of my house.
If you are living with me, you can forget about using drugs or any other vices in my home.

My home is a place of peace, a safe haven away from all that BS that occurs outside.
allowing my kids to do drugs in my home I feel would disrupt that.

However, I want my kids to be comfortable enough with me to talk about drugs/alcohol so I can help them make educated decisions.

I know of kids right now that I work with that smoke weed and drink wine they find in their parents closest and THESE ARE FUCKING middle schoolers!!!

Even tho marijuana is considered harmless in a lot of ways, I think for growing teenagers it can have some pretty harmful affects
(loss of ambition, trouble identifying, analyzing, and empathizing with emotions, loss of motivation etc)

I dont want my grown ass son/daughter living with me that cant function on their own because I've been promoting and enabling them to smoke weed, drink liquor and pop pills since they were 14.

No lol the rite of passage for teen substance abuse involves being able to hide your intoxication until you get caught and fussed out. If i let you get faded at my crib you gonna do it all wrong. Of course i want my kid to tell me everything. But boundaries
 
A child is to remain in a child's place under my roof. Idgaf how many of your friends are doing it.

If you can't develop street smarts enough on your own to keep your shit neat....

You don't need to be doing street shit....

I actually don't have an issue with drinking and smoking at its core.....I just was smart and aware enough to keep that shit out my mom's face, I need that same respect....

Drinking and smoking is more than just getting fucked up..

You gotta hold your liquor and know how to play that shit off too
 
This is a tough one. I would want to take away the allure of things but I am not sure about just handing them the chalice or a drink. I would like to know where @Race Jones got her information from on the use of herb but I don't steam infront of my child or my wife because she doesn't partake. But my son is aware of the plant as much as anything else. He knows it goes into Brownies and stuff like he knows oregano goes on to some other dishes. But I will teach him that moderation is the key and hope that his knowledge lets him understand that there are certain things that are really bad for you. I will also teach him that McDonald's is really bad for you and he won't be allowed to eat that in the house but I am not sure you can stop a 15 yo from eating it outside. Luckily he is only 3 now.
