OPINION Spin-off of the MK thread

So from what I’ve read in the Mortal Kombat thread the opinion on the movie is 50/50 or at best 60/40 that it’s a good movie. My question will we ever get a live action video game adaptation that is universally seen as being great?

I know there are animated versions that some people think are pretty good but for the most part, I can’t think of a movie based on a video game that really gets rated high. What do you think needs to happen?

Better directors?
Better actors?
Writers who’ve actually played the games and not just get handed source material?

Uncharted will get compared to Indiana Jones movies by people who never played the game

If they stick to the game story and not create some new crap I think TLOU could be great for everyone. Can't think of a movie similar that people would complain that it's a ripoff of

there’s a few past outliers but MK I would never watch again and RE I’ve seen quite many times
