What do I need to unerstand about duke and why he's nominated for a Rap AOTY Shammy....

I heard he was on a Netflix rap competition....but how good is his album, Black Habits. Is this album that good?
 
dude from inglewood cali,

raps in english and spanish and was on hustle and flow.

i like his style.

word? is that a fact that their brothers?

I only knew that Black on black song which did slap,but only heard about him opening up for a boxing match after that

saw some promo but never took the time to listen to his album
 
I wouldn't say he's a plant.

The reason why Idk him is because he got on through a reality show on netflix and I'm not into reality shows

Since his brother is SIR seems like he is a Top Dawg affiliate more than a plant and probably had connects.

that's a great definition,but I don't think that applies to him though.

His brother ,who is on Top Dawg and him been songwriters before SIR got a deal.

His fam been in music

He's on an indie label with Empire as distro for his second project.

he's not a plant

Never bothered to mention on the show that SiR is his brother, him having ties to TDE, him having writing credits on various songs over the years and then wins a competition after being unheard of and then months later has an album with snoop, Jill Scott, Ari Lennox, and SiR that is Grammy nominated

Idk maybe plant wouldn’t be the word but it doesn’t seem 100% authentic

By that logic no artist is authentic,he was an artist who was indie/underground and got some writing credits and was working in the industry and finally broke through using reality tv.

Netflix might have pulled some strings for him after he won or maybe the show was set up for him to win,who knows.

but to say he's not authentic because he found some different path to get on,isn't really fair.
