According to reports, the split between Robert De Niro and his estranged wife Grace Hightower will find her getting $6 million toward buying a home of her choice, along with $1 million per year until she remarries or either one of them passes away.

The former couple has been wrapped up in a battle of the terms of their 2004 prenuptial agreement, with Hightower arguing that she was entitled to half of his earning from when they were together, claiming the marital assets should be split evenly. However, Hightower’s argument was rejected.

The decision made by the appellate court said, “The husband’s income earned during the marriage and other business assets acquired during that time are his separate property.” Despite the ruling, Hightower is set to walk away with millions based on their prenup, as they should sell their $20 million home and put up $6 million towards purchasing a new home for herself and their two children. Robert De Niro’s lawyer spoke on the matter, saying, “The decision speaks for itself. We obviously agree with the conclusion.”

Hightower is of African-American descent and was raised in Kilmichael, Mississippi. She grew up in poverty, and worked various odd jobs to help support her family. Hightower became a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines, attracted by the possibility of traveling and expanding her horizons.
