Archbishop Desmond Tutu dies at 90

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Anglican cleric whose good humor, inspiring message and conscientious work for civil and human rights made him a revered leader during the struggle to end apartheid in his native South Africa, has died. He was 90.

One of the most powerful statements on post apartheid South Africa came from him. And it was extremely simple

There was some public forum in South Africa and it was intense. Someone was questioning why there wasnt a South African equivalent of the Nuremberg Trials....think of how Nazis are hunted down around the world TILL THIS DAY and prosecuted and on the flip side white people openly responsible for all kinds of South African atrocities get to walk around freely and even share Nobel Prizes with Mandela (rip)

Well, Bishop Tutu's response (to the lack of a South African equivalent to Nuremberg trials) was simply "because we didn't win". Pretty straightforward and way out of alignment with pop culture presentation of South Africa.

And with that being said, in the US there's growing possibilities of some local, if not national, versions of "Truth and Reconciliation " acts. Go figure . We pay dearly for not following international affairs and will continue to
