I hated Pray when it was out. I was into Malcolm X, the 5% movement, Brand Nubian, Poor Righteous Teachers, X Clan etc.

Having said that, I didn't realize it had so much bass.

But yeah, MC Hammer was a commercial rapper that appealed to the mainstream But the so-called "real heads" in my generation didn't like him.
