Why does it pick and choose which videos are unavailable and I have to go to YouTube to listen?
My guess is that whoever uploaded the videos set it up that way.

Nah it's a Youtube thing. It's like that on all the sites. It has to do with Youtube mobile ads, it doesn't happen on desktop.
