yeah that whistle or whatever....a lot of them probably did have that and/or some kinda horns

that high energy, battle of the bands type shit for the hook....then strip it down when the verses start and add one element back in every four bars to build that pressure back up then BOOM, sub on em lol.....thats the crunk formula lol

Lil jon used a synth lead (that high pitched buzz sound) and a sine whistle.

Those were part of his signature sound but he had different sounding beats tho.
