Rap Psychology- Curious case of Lil Yachty and Michigan

Bitch mob
Not sure if you guys are aware but I'm a huge fan of dissecting hip hop psychology and politics. Lil Yatchy is considered a mumble rapper/pop rapper from the suburbs of Georgia however has a unique connection with Detroit.

He is one of the first mainstream artists to tap in with the now rise of Detroit/Flint rap and has heavy connections/co-signs from real street dudes like Babyface Ray, Icewear Vezzo, Sada Baby, Rio da Yung OG, etc.

This video and his connection with Michigan has always been fascinating to me because Yachty is not a street dude, but is comes off as a genuine decent person that looks out for people and show love. Its a rarity for street dudes to be wolves especially with someone as flamboyant, colorful, and eccentric as Yatchy. From the colorful beads, nail polish, and expensive jewelry, being in the slums with street dudes takes guts when you not from that life at all, but also shows that ignorance is bliss.

All this reminds me of Drake and his ties to J Prince, or Jack Harlow and his ties in street shit (EST Gee) but also shows that street dudes are smart AF with investments and can be solid as well when you solid with them.

In Detroit, the streets and "civilian" life are joined at the hip

Street dudes do "square" shit and "square" dudes do street shit

Musically, we fux with everything
That's really cool, I never been to Michigan so it shows how unique the state is. Can't see this Lol Yachty shit flying at other places like Chicago, Montgomery or Compton

Another unique thing is that Sada Baby is supposedly close with Yachty, while Tee Grizzly is the same way. This is fascinating since them dudes have some deep real life deadly beef and yet they dont mind being cool with Lil Yachty. Yachty probably don't even realize what he doing in the middle of that. That shit don't fly in other places. Like Drakeo the Ruler said "Hang with the opps you get slang with the opps"

Shows how street politics varies from where you at.

Juice wrld? Lupe? Common? yung berg?

Drop the nearsighted "intellectual" stereotypes.... these type of connections been cracking for decades beyond hip hop too
I guess what separates those guys is that they are all from Chicago or have family ties while Lil Boat doesn't

I mean….if you’re a cool mf niggas would rock with you regardless of your ties with the streets or being a civilian…I kind of feel like you're judging off of rigid stereotypes you see in movies and rap videos and shit that doesn’t reflect reality..

Don’t think too hard about it….in Brooklyn for example you don’t have to be a “street nigga” to be cool in the streets. Just walk like you got some sense and keep your head up

You could be a church going, upstanding, respectable school kid with a 4.0 GPA and niggas in the streets would love you the same as the kid who’s in and out of jail, sells drugs and is always in trouble…

And being a good kid doesn’t mean you’re soft. A lot of kids who are gang affiliated can’t fight their way out of a paper bag while the church kid would whoop you clean

Weird kids like Lil Yachty were always around, they’re now just more “popular”..

I mean, Yachty was a established rapper, he then heard songs he liked from a bunch of no name rappers/little known rappers, then he flew to their city, met them and did music with them and helped elevate and establish a name for them. .
Most rappers these days not showing that kind of love to strangers unless they'd make money outa of them by having them sign their life away. So of course they'd be cool with him. That was some real ass love he showed them that he didnt have to.
