Nobody gave a fuck about Reasonable Doubt when it came out and now the majority calls it a classic

Nobody gave af about it? Nah you're bugging. The biggest rapper in the world was dissing him on records, people gave af. Jay was an independent artist so it wasn't gonna sell crazy.

And slap yourself for comparing this nerd shit to Reasonable Doubt.

You got a disdain for backpack rap. What they do to you?

In order to have the song of the year, it has to have high quality and high impact. Backpacker niggas have some dope records, but it lacks impact. It can't be record of the year when nobody gave af about it the year it was out. That's simple logic.

Thatā€™s not true. Lupe was one of the biggest artists of 06 and Food & Liquor was one of the most anticipated albums of the year. I believe it went gold. I donā€™t think this particular song is the song of the year though that I can agree with.

funny thing is i remember jim jones having this exact argument one year when kanye stated that trend

Youā€™re right it was never certified gold or platinum. But my other points still stand. He was one of the biggest artists that year with one of the most anticipated albums that year. His verse on Touch The Sky plus Kick, Push helped to build his buzz.

I be saying the same shit about all the backpacker shit niggas be trying to over-rate on here and try to rewrite history.

This shit was nowhere near the song of 2006, are u fuckin kiddin me?

This should be unanimous. Hustlin was the better song and the more impactful song

'Hustlin' has a shout for song of the year and defo gets my vote over 'Hurt Me Soul'... Theres no doubting Lupe's album had a massive impact around this time and 'Kick, Push' was a huge single...

While I agree that Lupe's verse on Touch The Sky was dope, and I remember he had a lil buzz when Food & Liquor dropped, Hustlin was the bigger song as far as radio play. At least in my neck of the woods.

I voted for Hustlin.
