The price of a brick goin up…

EXCLUSIVE: We are getting word from sources that Warner Bros is rebooting its 1991 neo-noir gangster film New Jack City, and that multi-hyphenate Snowfallactor and filmmaker Malcolm M. Mays is writing.

The original movie, directed by Mario Van Peebles and written by Thomas Lee Wright, boasted a star cast that included Wesley Snipes, Ice-T, Chris Rock, Flavor Flav, Allen Payne, Judd Nelson and Peebles. Snipes played arrogant New York City drug lord Nino Brown during the 1980s crack epidemic. Ice-T portrayed Scotty Appleton, a detective who goes undercover in Nino’s gang, the Cash Money Brothers, to bring down the drug lord for taking the life of his mother. Rock was “Pookie” Benny Robinson, a former stick-up kid who becomes homeless and poor after Appleton shoots him in the ankle. Pookie becomes a crack addict and eventually a police informant and infiltrates the Cash Money Brothers.

I don’t want this to happen. Not everything has to be fuckin rebooted or remade or whatever the hell.

Guess I'm the only one who looks forward to alot of these remakes/reboots if given the right credibility behind it (director, writers, and actors). I love seeing new takes on stuff I grew up on. Never cared for New Jack City enough tho so dont really care about it but based off what I remember it probably could turn out dope with a modern version.

But yeah Hollywood does seem to rely on the old and I can understand the frustration but its whatever the 80s and 90s the GOAT decades.

Until folks make all the remakes of classic movies fail at the box office. They just going to keep making them cause all they care about is money. They know remakes will make money so they greenlight those over completely new movie ideas because they not sure if it will make money.

Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime could really come up if they gave folks with new movie ideas real chances to make movies and put it on their platforms.

I'm not going to see this or the Set it Off remake out of principle

I could see them making it current with opioids and heroin but if that's the case just make a different movie. I dont think they're rebooting because they think people want reboots, but because it's less risky

NJC was so badly written.

Shit was more of a comedy.

Say some dumb shit like this again....
