An innocent Brooklyn mom was gunned down at a memorial service for a friend executed hours earlier for accidentally stepping on a gang member’s foot — with the gangbangers returning to blast the dead man’s mourning friends, police sources said Tuesday.

Shalimar Birkett, 32, took a fatal bullet to the head when the Monday night vigil turned violent as locals gathered to honor the neighborhood man killed in similarly brutal fashion less than 24 hours prior, police said. The slain Birkett’s blood stained the Brownsville sidewalk Tuesday after the slaying where fellow mourners watched in horror.

It’s like a nightmare,” said Birkett’s mother Patricia Hamilton, looking blankly into the distance inside her darkened Brooklyn apartment. “She was an outgoing, fun person, loved by everyone — all her friends and family.”

Birkett was attending the memorial on Park Place near Howard Ave. when a gunman exited a vehicle that stopped down the block and opened fire about 11 p.m. Monday, cops said. The slain mother of two young sons was apparently not the shooter’s intended target, police said.

The same gang members responsible for killing earlier victim Miles Bobbsemple opened fire on the memorial, believing rival gang members were in attendance, police believe. Bobbsemple was fatally shot in the chest around 12:30 a.m. Monday at a Remsen Ave. house party where he accidentally stepped on a gang member’s foot, sources said.

It’s really crazy,” said a high school friend of Bobbsemple from Guyana. “Someone’s life, because I stepped on your toes?”

Hamilton, whose daughter lived with her, said the earlier murder victim was “a friend, but not a close friend” of Birkett.

Medics rushed Birkett to Brookdale University Hospital, where she died.

“Why?” her mother asked Tuesday morning. “Why you had to come shoot and kill my daughter? She was just there.”

The vigil remembered the 31-year-old Bobbsemple, who was dropped off at Kings County Hospital about 12:30 a.m. Monday with a fatal gunshot wound. The driver took off and Bobbsemple died a short time later.

Cops were initially stumped by what happened but now believe he was blasted at the house party where a 30-year-old man was shot in both legs and in the shoulder about 12:20 a.m. Monday, cops said.

Bobbsemple was not as fortunate, with angry gang members killing him over the fatal faux pas, sources indicated. Some of the same gang members then shot up the vigil for Bobbsemple as the payback continued, cops suspect.

Hamilton, 57, said her daughter left behind six brothers and five sisters. The murder victim landed a job last month at Famous Footwear in Kings Plaza and loved to hang out with friends — including a trip to Thailand a few years back, the mom recalled.

Birkett was the second of Hamilton’s children to die violently on the streets of Brooklyn. Aspiring carpenter Neyon Hamilton, 25, was shot to death in East Flatbush in July 2018, leaving behind a 1-year-old daughter.

It was unclear if Birkett’s two boys, ages 11 and 10, have yet been told of their mother’s slaying, said Hamilton.

“She always takes them out to eat, shopping,” said Hamilton. “They go to waterparks and stuff during the summertime. They do fun things together, her and the aunts and the cousins.”

Some people say it’s only a small percentage of people who do shit like this....so they guess this is ok.
