MC Serch Says He Was Asked To Write For Rakim

this is just enough to start a brawl on some NY street tonight
 
Def Jam / Rush Management - particularly Rush and Lyor were known for trying to get ghostwriters for LL, Method Man and Rakim but they never got further than having the idea pitched to the previously-mentioned artists

I know that Run DMC helped the Beastie Boys write "Paul Revere" and LL helped write some of Run DMCs songs
 
I figured it was tha label wanting a hook for a radio joint...everybody witā€™ any sense know Serch not writing for tha God MC...tha nigga missinā€™ and A in his name...he not smart enough to write for Ra lol

Also, a lot of times when people get busted for using ghost writers, people think that ghost writer wrote every word to the song when a good chunk of the time, that isnt the case. It can be as little as the writer suggesting a topic of the verse or changing a single line in the artists verse to make it flow better. Shit is way common. Like serch said, he wasnt asked to write an entire song for Rakim. Ra had a block and he was asked to come up with a song idea or just start him out with a bar or two to kickstart rakims creativity.

There are of course many instances of people giving other people completed songs for that person to use though. People work better together than they do solo in most instances.

Everybody knew Eazy didn't write shit. He was very vocal about that.

Snoop wrote the bulk of his songs, in a few instances he freestyled whole songs (i.e. G'z and Hustlas). He did get an assist from The DOC on a few joints but I have yet to see a track from dude he didn't write on.

Hanks's shit on Rappers Delight was stolen from Caz but what complicates it is that there's different stories about it that Caz himself has told. In one version, the oldest one I've read, he didn't write it for Hank at all. More recently he's said that Hank asked him to write some lyrics after being approached by Sylvia Robinson. What I do know is that Caz also went by the name Casanova Fly, which is why Hank spells it out "I'm the C-A-S-AN, the O-V-A and the rest is F-L-Y"; at the very least he stole those particular bars.

BDK had co-writing credit on Biz Markie's debut album and only that album and at that it was 5 of the songs, not all of them. Every album after that was 100% Biz.
