Earlier this year, it was announced that Donald and Stephen Glover’s pending animated “Deadpool” TV series for FX had been axed, and that the network, Marvel, and the Glovers had parted ways. Shortly thereafter, Glover leaked 15 pages of a theoretical script for the show, which referenced the cancellation. He also stated, “For the record: I wasn’t too busy to work on ‘Deadpool.’” Now, FX CEO John Landgraf has revealed in a new interview with Variety that the decision to part ways on the series came not from FX, but Marvel.

When asked if there was any chance of reviving the series with Glover and Marvel, Landgraf replied, “No. I think that Marvel will revive it, because they have the rights... They didn’t want to do the show that Donald and Stephen [Glover] wrote. We would have done [the] show that Donald and Stephen wrote, but it wasn’t our decision. When Marvel decided not to do that show, we parted company with them as did Donald and Stephen.”

When reached by Pitchfork, representatives for Marvel offered no comment.
