It gets worse n worse. the 10 million refurbishment last year went toward cosmetic changes to make it look less like poor people's housing
the building had a disproportionately high # of POC, esp. families n elderly ppl.
the local gov was sitting on reports about fire risk for yrs.
the emergency services told ppl to stay inside. some only got out alive cuz they ignored it.
just failure n fatal neglect all over. very very sad story. the death toll is up to 12 n still rising.
