Lil Wayne is finally getting ready to release his long-awaited album, Tha Carter V. The rapper kicked off the campaign last week after the project's cover art was revealed by Young Money. Now, Weezy will be honored with the "I Am Hip Hop" award at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards.

BET is set to honor Lil Wayne with the "I Am Hip Hop" award next month at the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards. Considering Wayne's accomplishments throughout his 20+ year career in the game, both critically and commercially, he's without a doubt a perfect candidate for the award. Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III helped him launch into one of the biggest superstars in the world. He's received five Grammys throughout his career and undoubtedly helped carry Cash Money Records for years.

Lil Wayne's The Dedication 6: Reloaded is also nominated for a BET Hip Hop Award for the Best Mixtape category.

The award show will be returning to Miami for a second year in a row with DeRay David holding down hosting duties. Drake's currently in the lead with 11 nominations. Cardi B follows with 10.

After Tha Carter V's cover art was revealed, his long-awaited collaboration with Swizz Beatz, "Pistol On My Side" was released on Friday. Swizz also released the single alongside a music video.

There's been speculation that Tha Carter V will drop this Friday, but it's yet to be confirmed. Hopefully, we could finally hear the long-awaited Weezy album soon.

Wayne accomplishments can't be taken from...nigga been famous a long time. Which leaves room for alotta fuck shit and wack music. But dude put in work..especially during that mixtape weezy phase between carter 2 and carter 3. People who weren't there don't understand the amount of quality music dude was putting out. Radio and street bamgers

Them Sqad Up mixtapes all 7 of them came out before Carter 1

Dude just love to rap

Respect

Nigga wack and always been wack
He took a break from being wack for 2 albums and then went back on his path of wackness

He put in work and he’s had enjoyable music. I fuck with Dedication 6 & I think he’s getting himself back on track. Plus I think the worlds ready for Wayne to come back. He fathered a lot of these lame ass niggas a lot of people think are greats anyways. By hip hop years he’s an elder statesmen at this point.

"But but but.... Wayne isn't a GOAT tho"

Again I will say IDGAF for what you rap purists think. The 90s is over Lil Wayne is one of the Greatest Rappers of All Time and should he go tomorrow he'll be hailed as such he has the body of work and his influence/inpact is undeniable.

I made a "Is Wayne Top 10 DOA" poll on the IC and the general concensus was that he's not top 10. Having said that, The Carter II is a classic.
