Let's Do A Top 40 Songs List from 1999-2018 Like Ego Trip Did In 1998

5 Grand

Old School Godfather
In 1999, a book came out called Ego Trip Book Of Rap Lists. It was a Hip Hop book that had a bunch of lists about random things.

One thing was the best song from every year. It listed the best 15 rap songs from 1979, then from 1980-1998 it listed the top 40 best rap songs from every year. So there is a top 40 list from 1980-1998. As the book came out in 1999, some of the newer lists had some unusual placements, for example, in 1996 Hail Mary is missing from the top 40 songs that came out that year. I think we can all agree that Hail Mary should have made the 1996 list.

Anyway, below is their list from 1979-1998

I say we do a similar list from 1999-2018. The top songs from 1999-2018 and stop. We should stop at 2018 to give the songs time to marinate. To see if those songs are really classics, or if they were just hot at the moment.

Top 15 gets tallied for the ‘99 list.

Nah, Ego Trip's list was a top 40 of every year from 1980-1998

It's not about the top 15, it's about all the regional hits that were hot that year.

I want the top 40 songs from 1999-2018

Edit.

I want to do it just like Ego Trip did it; Top 40 songs for every year
