This is an amazing interview by somebody who was really there on day 1. But not only was he there on day 1, he put out a record and toured the globe before any other rapper or rap group.

Sure there's guys like Grandmaster Caz, Kool Moe Dee and Melle Mel, but Kurtis Blow was the first rapper on a major label and therefore was the first rapper to go to Europe and do interviews with European media.
