Kendrick Names His Top 25 Albums

5 Grand

Old School Godfather
Not sure if this is legit. I found it on Facebook.

There's no 80s albums on there. I think he would benefit from listening to some 80s rap.

I think all rap/Hip Hop artists would benefit from listening to things outside of their generation. Younger cats should listen to old school and older cats should listen to the new stuff, within moderation.

Rihanna is 8 albums deep over a 15 year career. It's understandable that she'd take time off and focus on other things. Kendrick is only 3 or 4 albums deep.
True, but he does have a team, he could be working with them for their projects. And art should be crafted and taken some time with

Glad he takes that long off. No need to oversaturate & keeps the fan base wanting more.
Doesn't necessarily need to oversaturate. Jay dropped an album a year for 7 years but I don't think people consider him oversaturating over those years. I'm not saying he can't take his time, but he shouldn't rest on his laurels either.

Rappers used to take 2/3 years between projects

True but to play devils advocate, 2/3 years in this fast food era is more like 4/5 years... Alot of artists put out more than 1 project a year now, look at what GxFR do for instance, it doesnt take much to be yesterday's news these days...

If your not putting out music, artists need to stay active in the news or on social media... Or atleast hop on a few features...

Imo Kendrick isnt on icon status where he can just pop up, announce a project and have it shake the industry... I think he needs another well received project (or 2) before he can do that...

This is a good point, it gives fans the chance to actually take in his music and vibe to it...

I find now, with so many projects dropping it is hard to let music digest and also play an album over on repeat...

Except that he can and he’s not an icon.

I disagree. He builds major media attention just from being seen outside in LAevery website trying to theorise wether or not he’s out doing videos for a new project etc.

he’s at a stage where he can drop and off the strength of previous releases, he will go play even without much of a promo run.

Ive not heard his name in ages or seen any project speculation either... But if thats the case then I guess hes good...

:shrug2:

He has the Interscope machine behind him too, so even if his buzz did die down I guess they could pull strings and get him on tons of media outlets... Unlike if a true indie artist lost their buzz...
