Katt Williams’ dreams of being a movie mogul have taken him to Alabama, where the comedian purchased a former military base with the intention to launch a movie studio.

“I can’t disclose the amount or exact location just yet, but I can confirm that he has purchased a former military base in Alabama,” Williams’ publicist, Amy Sisoyev, said in an email Thursday to AL.com.

While the comedian is mum on the property he purchased, Fort McClellan’s Cold War-era barracks in Anniston had been up for sale at a $1.5 million asking price.

An old Cold War barracks, known locally as Starships, is on the market in Anniston, Ala. (Alabama Film Office)

Known locally as “Starships,” the barracks and surrounding property consists of 30 concrete buildings with three million square feet of indoor space. There are 10 barracks with 20 rooms each, two large gymnasiums, and more than 90 acres of usable flat land on the old Ft. McClellan site.

Connie Alexander, designated broker at the Luxe Group, which represented the seller of the Fort McClellan barracks, said the property “was purchased through an LLC but Katt Williams did visit the property frequently during the purchase phase.”

“It’s a visionary endeavor, and we’re excited to see how this historic site evolves under his leadership,” Alexander said.

Efforts to reach the McClellan Development Authority -- a non-profit public corporation made to speed economic development of the former fort -- was unsuccessful.

In an interview published by GQ on Wednesday, Williams said he purchased a former Alabama military base sometime this year.

The comedian’s January appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast “Club Shay Shay” holds the YouTube interview record with more than 83 million views. Williams put several entertainers, including Kevin Hart, Rickey Smiley and Tyler Perry, on blast.

In the GQ interview, Williams told GQ he has ambitions of becoming a movie mogul à la Perry.

“It’s just not fair to put all that pressure on Tyler Perry,” he said. “He can only do so much.”

Williams was in Alabama earlier this year for stops on his ‘Dark Matter’ tour, where he performed sets in Huntsville, Birmingham and Mobile.

I came in here to say congratulations Katt glad to see us building something for us.

Then I saw @Black_Samson post my nigga Kat just bought Chernobyl little cousin.
Nah this ain’t THAT bad.

Par for any old army base really.

Camp Lejune is the worst thus far and that’s the bar I judge others off of.

Just that Katt gon have maybe 1/20th of that base cleared, cleaned and suitable for business in 5 years time.

This still a good look cause all that land and water.

Shit ain’t gon be like flipping a house.

Taken from Reddit.

Anybody read up on Operation Top Hat? Classified experiments with chemical weapons conducted on soldiers back in the day that was brought to light in the 90s, took place at Ft McClellan.

I live a stone's throw from the Army Depot and Pelham Range (not by choice). It's common to hear thunderous explosions from time to time with no apparent cause. Apparently I'm about a mile from where they incinerated all the remaining ordinance from the Depot's chemical weapons stockpile, that would be close by the FedEx building on Fish Hatchery Lane if I'm not mistaken. Of course I didn't know any of this until I had to move out here and heard it from locals then verified on the internet/witnessed myself.

This place is literally straight out of a movie, like Gummo but worse. I had someone round these parts tell me when i first came here that i was gonna die here. I actually live closer to Oxford than Anniston by a minute or so but the way I come in I have to pass the old Monsanto plant every time I come and go from Anniston. No one told me the entirety of west Anniston was tainted with PCBs until I moved out here.

I've not fallen victim to the apparently rampant crime problem but my literal next door neighbor had his house burglarized when he was gone one day, said they put a hole on the side of his house facing our house and came in thru the hole (mind you there is a lot of brush in between our houses). I feel bad I didn't notice it.

Seriously though, this place is wild. I'd like to see something come of Katt's plans though. If he was hellbent on choosing this area, I guess Ft. McClellan would be the best spot on account of all the fencing and the guard post, among other things.

Not dissing anybody who lives here. I live here. But I wish I didn't.

I am from Huntsville and can confirm McC has had a history of weirdness.
