I've heard of it before, but it's not a major thing. I was just irritated by a chick status telling people to unfriend her if they never heard of juneteenth. She didn't want to associate with ignorance.


I found it ironic that considering it's ignorant to ridicule instead of inform.

But I ain't want no smoke. So I just posted this video on my page and made this thread.
 
Juneteenth is a huge deal in Memphis. The river front be popping. It wasn't until I moved to Texas that I was actually educated on the meaning of it.
 
I've known about Juneteenth and the fam acknowledges it but I've never knew anyone who actively celebrated or did anything special for it.

How do folks typically celebrate it? Cookin out type situation or something else?
 
Out here it’s normally a small parade and festival in the park. They’re having one today at this park in my old neighborhood.
 
Juneteenth was a big celebration when I was stationed in Little Rock. Up here though, I don't even think majority of niggas know what it is.

I had too much fun during the festivals. Miss that shit.
 
I gotta check if there's any festivals that be going down over here. It's a black city so there should be.
