I’m cautiously optimistic about this.
On one hand they got a young black filmmaker and Coogler producing this.
On another hand it looks like a studio film and they’ll definitely water down the politics and ambition of Hampton and the Panthers. They’ll play up his “intersectionality” (which helped played a role in the BPP’s demise). It looks like it will glorify his death by some cool action shootout when in reality pigs broke into his home and killed him in his sleep. I don’t trust studios banked by the FBI/CIA and other alphabet agencies to portray black revolutionaries properly. I doubt they’ll even talk about socialism in this flick.
