Maybe you should break it up by decades.

Dr Dre was the hottest producer in the late 80s and 90s, but you can't say he was the hottest producer post Y2K.

And Marley Marl produced classics in the 80s, but the younger generation doesn't know who he is. Ditto for The Bomb Squad.

And Kanye & Just Blaze owned the 00s but I can see how they might not be top 5 DOA.
