Welcome To aBlackWeb

If you don't protest, are you a coon?

You're the target, not the victim 🧐

Many of us have clear opinions about certain issues.

If we're having a discussion,, we'll express clear and direct opinions about racism, discrimination, police brutality, the president, pretty much everything dealing with race....

However many of those people won't participate in any protest. Boycott. Or even make a controversial political post on social media.

While they recognize a problem, they're not willing to risk their comfort to challenge it.

Is this cooning??

I ask this cuz of Dez Bryant comment.

Dude never said he was against or for anything....He just had a family to feed...

Considering mad folk do the same thing....are we enabling?? Cooning??

protest isn't the only kinda campaigning. i like lobbying personally, for many reasons, but protest is important esp if it happens in large numbers.

i wouldn't say that not protesting makes someone a coon. I been an activist for all my adult life n only been to like 2 protests.

Half the people don't know what they're protesting about in the first place so I say no
this is kinda the conclusion i came to my self....

i feel like most folk are pretty superficial and just going with the trend and agenda.....

while i tend to support protest... i assume and feel like most of those folk are fairly impressionable and just following the crowd.....

it's like they're almost programmed to care about certain shit and all make the same points....

i'm pretty pessimistic with my views on people, and i often feel the loudest people often know the least about what they're talking about....

i could be wrong.... but i stay seeing that shit.....

but that's me, lol

Damn, my fault, didn't read the op. I was just answering the question in the thread title.

If somebody doesn't choose to protest, it doesn't make them a coon, but what Dez did was some fuck nigga shit. Like josh said, if you don't wanna protest cool, but don't say shit at all. "I gotta feed my fam" is a weak and selfish excuse. "I would fight with yall, but masta gives me foods and sleeps" , foh.

actions speak louder than words.....

i'm talking about feelings and saying things.. not doing things....

Words are powerful b. When people say things like that, both the people who follow think this type of logic is the right one to have and the other side who don't want blacks coming together to provoke change use niggas like him to say "oh well Dez is such a great example of a professional player because he doesn't stir things up and bring negative attention to them team" etc. It's deeper than the surface

But if I suspect mad people feel exactly like dez, but just don't say it....

What that make them??

What that make dez for speaking his mind?

First and foremost we need to learn what the term coon means. Coon was another word used by Mr Whitey to call you a nigger. A "Tom" was the derogatory word that blacks would call a person of color who always sided with whatever a cracka would say or do.

To answer your OP though no you're not wrong for not protesting. You have other ways of protesting then being on the front lines holding up signs yelling at some jackass across the street.

Everyone has a different part to play. Everyone can not be on the front line. The problem with his comment was it was almost like him saying none of that has anything to do with me and I am not going to jeopardize this check for anything. For like of a better term that is saying I am in the house and I get the better scraps so I am not worried about what is going in the field. I want my scraps. It is selfish but he has the right to be that way. Hopefully someone will sit him down and explain why what he said is problematic.
