I've been exploring deeper into the world of underground Texas rap these past few months. So I decided to finally sit down and listen to the popular internet meme known as KB Da Kidnappa.
I first started with his album "Street Venom" Ugh I don't know where to begin with this one. Super generic beats, zero bass, vocals sound like they were recorded in a Burger King bathroom. Couldn't get into a single track and I tried. No amount of good smoke could make this album bump. SKIP THIS.
Next I checked out "Black Mamba" This one showed a bit more promise... at first. The production has been stepped up a bit but at the same time this is a detriment to KB's singing. Yes singing. He sings all of the hooks on this album. Reminds me a lot how 50 Cent used to sing hooks poorly. 50 is not a good singer and neither is KB. Also half the tracks are skits. The only track I kinda liked was "Can't Sell Dope Forever" He didn't really sing on this one and he was spittin some real shit.
Thankfully these are the only 2 albums of his on Tidal so I don't have to listen to anymore. When I get a chance I will check out Street Military (KB's group from back in the day) and see if it's an improvement. It's got to be... right?
