How have your expectations changed in choosing to see a movie in the theaters?

Mister B. M. Ed.

The Devil’s Greatest Advocate…..
As we aged, our tastes definitely get more and more selective. So, how does this relate to your movie going experience? What are the main qualities you look for in a film before you decide to spend that $$$ on it?

Great storytelling and cinematography are ALWAYS at the top of my list when determining if I'm going to spend dough to go see the film in the theaters. I can't front though I do enjoy cinematic events. Those huge Marvel events are great to see in the theatres to me.

I also try to support films with majority black cast and black directors so that the box office can see more and more that those films can be successful. I do hate having to watch slave, oppression movies all the damn time when it comes to "black" films, so when there is a majority black film that tells a different kind of story... I try to support as well.

Trying to avoid having a movie I'm interested in seeing being spoiled also plays a big part in me going to the theaters. If I wanna see a film but know folks are gonna act an ass online.. I try to go see it before folks can get a chance to spoil the shit for me

I'm only interested in seeing epic movies in terms of sound, visuals, and action in the movies

Sometimes I'll settle but between Halloween,US, Lego movie 2 I been let down each time

Movies like godzilla and John wick should be seen in the movies to me

Only epic blockbusters do I go see. Marvel, Star Wars, etc. We'll do a kids movie from time to time for the little ones. Got to be movies I know are worth it though.

Everything else gets the Firestick treatment.

So I'm a bit weird with mine. I generally dont see a movie in theaters unless its directed or produced by a director/producer that I have enjoyed work from in the past. I have a handful of directors that I "trust" because i typically enjoy most things that they've done. This doesnt always work though and have lead to some disappointments.

Besides the director, I just try to get as much plot details as I can. If the trailer looks good and the plot sounds great, I'll give it a chance. I love going to see movies in theaters and have a few friends that are the same so we all go see movies that might interest us together. Also a great excuse to take a lady out Haha. Want to say I see a movie in theaters at least every couple of months.

Comicbook movies though I always see in theaters. Almost each one. Only comicbook film I didnt see in theaters in the last 5 years was the new hellboy.

Going to the movies is one of my favorite past times. It's one of the only things I can do with no phones and no distractions and not be bored.

So if it's something I wana see, even the slow oscar bait movies, I'll try to see it in theaters first. If not I'll catch it on a streaming service.

I may or may not check RT to see if it's bad or not so I dont waste money....but again, if it's something I wana see ima see it regardless. I have no problems watching something stupid or disappointing lol. I have a better chance of finishing a movie in theaters than watching it at home anyway.

I Usually Seek Out Specific Directors (Cohens, Scorsese. Fincher)

Now I Also Check For Cinematographers (Deakins, Soderbergh)

For me Marvel/Superhero movies I see potential in (or was a fan of the comic character)...and that's about it. I plan on seeing Spiderman, Wonder Woman when it comes out, maybe Toy Story. Nothing else is on my list at the moment.

The only time I really go to a movie otherwise is if the homies wanna see something because we have nothing else to do. Between Netflix and Hulu I got too much movie at home. Like when you asked your parents for Mcdonalds and they told you they had food at home.
