For years we’ve heard how LeBron makes players around him better, and Jokic. There are obviously more examples but I’m just naming a few. What does making players better really mean?
I think Lebron is good for average players. He doesn't really make them better, but when he was younger, he would take most of the work out of their hands and they would just have to finish. I'm not sure he's every been really good for other star players. He's won championships with other stars, but they usually had to change their games to accommodate him.
Both Lebron and MJ made players better, but they did it in different ways. I forget who said it, but someone once said that Lebron raised the floor of ability for the players and teams he was on. MJ raised the ceiling.
