Been meaning to make this thread for a while.

@Dwayne brought it to my memory.

But how are you guys/ladies with your kids and sports? If you don't have kids, how do you think you would be?

Are you the parent living through them? Lol

Are you the supporter no matter how good or not so good they may be?

You teaching them drills and shit?

My son plays football and I hardly give him real coaching at home.

Maybe some advice here and there if at all but dont want to overdo it.

And I love football to the core and want to teach him everything about it. I rather him find his own path and if he wants to do it he will. He just love being outside with kids his age running around. He hangs out with one of the kids on his team and goes to his house to chill.

I don't have kids yet but i'll let them pick what they like. Obviously they could get influenced by what i watched on TV. My concern is going to be with the sports that may produce CTE & TBI. I'm a huge MMA & kickboxing fan but it's a brutal. There's a lot of good of kids program but that deserves a real brainstorm (no pun) before making that decision.

Are you the parent living through them? No, not really. (i think i won't)

Are you the supporter no matter how good or not so good they may be? I'll have to be honest at one point if he or she sucks, lol

You teaching them drills and shit? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!

Nah but seriously I’ll let him rock out. If he wants to play a sport.

Although at a certain age I will ask if this is just a hobby or if he wants to excel in said sport.

if the answer is the latter I’ll keep it a buck and tell him the bare minimum work that needs to be put in to be that& if that is something he wants to undertake. If not just have fun. Supportive either way.

my daughter said she wanted to play basketball. Im not sure if she wants to be on a team or not but i just try to let her shoot the ball and tried to teach her some basics on dribbling.

She likes soccer though for the time being. Its not super competitive yet which is good.

So far my son has played soccer and he liked it. Was mostly running around and he did score a goal or 2. I bought a goal from academy and set it up in the Park so we could practice but that’s about as far as I went teaching wise as I don’t know the fundamentals of the game.

He has a bball league starting in a month. I do wanna get some practice time in before it starts so he won’t be completely green. Otherwise I’ll let him learn as he goes. If he’s interested in pursuing it further he’ll let us know.

I don’t live through my son when it comes to sports. The sport I love the most (football) I won’t even let him play.

He’s said he wants to try baseball after this and track so that’ll be sometime next year.

I'd say I'm pretty good. Tried to get my son into basketball and he never gave one fuck about it. Never wanted to be one of them niggas living therough their kids, so I just took the L and moved on. Then he developed an interest in baseball...which I absolutely fucking hate. Lol. But his mom loves it and got him into it by just watching it all the time at home during her days with him.

I'd be at his little league games miserable as fuck...but I was there. And active. And cheering.

I used to casually mention when he was around how I much I fucking hated baseball. His mom finally pulled me to the side and was like 'Yo, can you PLEASE shut the fuck upon about how much you hate baseball around the kid? Cause eventually, he's gonna start to dislike it because YOU dislike it!'. She was right. He was at that age where that was a possibility.

He's older now and doesn't play anymore. Praise Gawd.
