People are going to disagree, but I think Southern producers in general are better composers or to be accurate closer to being composers. That's not to say that every Southern beat is better than every East Coast beat. The thing is that Southern producers in general seem to do more with samples to the point that you almost don't recognize them. East Coast producers use the samples more as the backbone for their beats and add stuff to them. I'm a fan of both the Wu and the DF, and I can't call which set of beats I like best, but if you're asking me which camp was able to make beats that strayed farther away from samples, it's definitely DF.
