The Wire. Not even close. The first season of 24 was innovative and fresh, but when Jack's wife got kidnapped twice in the second season I gave up. Then the show got dumber and dumber as it went along.

The Wire, on the other hand, was consistently great.

The concept. It never be duplicated. Every episode was an hour in Jack Bauer's life.

Sounds silly but the show runners made it work obviously for...9 seasons

And the show portrayed a likeable, intelligent and charismatic Black President... which seemed like a 1st for a major TV show
