Babygrande Records and Stones Throw got heat but its hard for them to have a solid 5 year run to keep up with some of bigger labels...

Rawkus was putting out some some quality music during that time.

Don't forget this Classic

Fun Fact: Rawkus was started with funding from Rupert Murdoch's son the real life Kendall Roy

Also... in 1996, Rupert Murdoch bought a majority of Rawkus. I didn't know that part.

Yeah they had tons more heat, I just had to pick a 5 year run... Looking at their catalog they had a ridiculous run as a label...

I didnt know that Murdoch bought into them though, thats wild...

Yeah, I gotta second Babygrande and Stones Throw.

Add Jive from '88-'93

Tommy Boy had some ridiculous heat too, Im trying to look at their catalog from 1990 - 1998 on Discogs but it freezes for on those years for somereason... Wiki doesnt show half of what they dropped but I reckon from 1990 - 1998 you could find a great 5 year run of classic albums and 12":

DeLa, Digital Underground, Paris, Naughty, Above The Law, Queen Latifah, Coolio, House Of Pain, CNN, Big Noyd, DITC, Prince Paul, Tony Touch the list goes on...

Sales makes it unfair.

Rap sales were up circa 94-04. Then streaming took over and downloading skewed the results.

How can you compare Cold Chillin sales from 87-91 to Rocafella sales from 97-01?

Impact and album/classics would take precedence in their case.

The is no debate. No Limit 96-00. Most amount of unique, gold, platinum artist. I didn't have time to do full research but there are at least 4 gold records I am missing below and this doesn't count any non-us sales numbers. They changed rap marketing, their success is the main reason why Cash Money was able to get a distribution deal, otherwise they would have been regional label for at least 2 or 3 more years

I think we got most of the picks we need.

I'm gonna make a pre-tournament thread for Rocafella. I see a couple 98-02 votes and 00/01 - 04/5

Discogs is acting up and I cant view Tommy Boy's realeses from 1996 - 1998, it says 'Error 500'... so I had to rely on Wiki which leaves loads os sh!t out... If anyone can view add to the list... @Goldie and whoever can pick 5 year run, I would prolly 93-97...

I'm gonna use Tommy Boy instead of Priority.

Priority is like a mini Def Jam.
