Can't go wrong with either one but the first Godfather had more epic scenes and was more violent. I choose violence.

Only thing I really enjoy from GF2 are the flashback scenes of Vito. Michael's storyline in 2 falls flat to me.
Now look at part 1 and see Michael at the wedding in the beginning to the door closing at the end.
Plus 1 has Brando in it. Every scene he's in holds weight.
