Father Charged in Shooting Death of Former UCF Star RB Otis Anderson Jr.
The father of former UCF running back Otis Anderson Jr. was charged for his son's death after allegedly shooting and killing him on Monday at their home in Jacksonville, Florida.
According to Anderson Jr.'s mother, Denise, the altercation between Anderson Sr. and his son started after Anderson Jr.'s girlfriend's dog bit Anderson Sr. After an intense verbal argument, the two had to be separated before engaging in another altercation that resulted in Anderson Jr. suffering one gunshot wound to the chest.
Anderson Jr. was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Denise Anderson also suffered multiple graze wounds but was later discharged.
On Tuesday, Anderson Sr. was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He's currently being held without bond and has been given a public defender.
Anderson Jr., who was 23 years old at the time of his passing, played at UCF from 2017 to 2020. He rushed for 2,182 yards and 17 touchdowns, while catching 91 passes for 1,025 yards and nine touchdowns during his time at the university. Most recently, he participated in the Los Angeles Rams' training camp earlier this year.
