The family of Pablo Escobar, the late Colombian drug kingpin and leader of the feared Medellin cartel, is working to capitalize on a newer addiction: smartphones.

Esocbar Inc. says it's releasing an advanced smartphone with a foldable screen.

Roberto Escobar Gaviria, the brother of Pablo Escobar, founded the company.

(SOUND BITE) (English-dubbed Spanish) ESCOBAR INC. FOUNDER, ROBERTO ESCOBAR GAVIRIA, SAYING:

"I'm not new to electronics. I'm a person that has liked electronics for a long time and we wanted to come out with a phone that was different than all the others in the world."

Swedish entrepreneur Olof Gustafsson is CEO of Escobar Inc.

(SOUND BITE) (English) ESCOBAR INC. CEO, OLOF GUSTAFSSON, SAYING:

"The best technology in the world is to have a foldable phone right now. It's almost like phones with cameras ten years ago, but now there's a foldable technology so we took this knowledge and a year later we incorporated it into our first product which is the Escobar Fold 1... We are changing things; we are a new Steve Jobs basically. And, we are trying to get some fresh air into this business by bringing the real cost of this products to the consumers, and it's a big difference. Because of this we don't have investors, we don't have limitations."

The Escobar Fold 1 will operate on Android and cost $349 US dollars in its most basic version. Another version with more memory and RAM will also be released for $499.

(SOUND BITE) (English) ESCOBAR INC. CEO, OLOF GUSTAFSSON, SAYING:

Our focus is to put the Fold 1 in the whole world, and not just the Fold 1. Our focus is to become a comprehensive technology company similar to Samsung and Apple, just the same but Pablo Escobar."

The 72-year-old founder of Esocbar Inc. spent 12 years in prison for belonging to the Medellin cartel. He turned himself in to authorities in 1992. His famous brother was killed in December 1993 in a joint Colombia-U.S. operation.

Now, almost 30 years later, he is hoping to use the worldwide fame of the family name to sell smartphones.

ESCOBAR INC. FOUNDER, ROBERTO ESCOBAR GAVIRIA, SAYING:

"The Escobar-Gaviria brand is now a global brand, it's a brand that doesn't need to be promoted, it's like some sodas, some of the very big companies in the world that already have their brands established. Those brands will never change. They will always be good because they are innovating so that those coming from behind will never catch up."

Escobar Inc. says the new foldable smartphone will hit markets next month.

Interesting. Someone need to step up and take the conglomerate away from Samsung and Apple

Everybody been making money off the name why not the family
He can try. I thought some of the family was trying to get away from the name? I thought the son was if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't be surprised if some businesses or even countries try to block them.

Huawei has their foot on necks right now.

For real? I'm not too familiar with their products. Gonna have to take a look. They have comparable phones & tablets in terms of quality?

My beef with Apple and to a lesser extent Samsung is that they aren't really innovating that much. Apple especially

P30 pro and mate 30 pro are both super fire phones.

P30 pro has the best camera on the market right now. Camera is so good I'm convinced it's Chinese government spy tech and that's why Canada and the us doing their best to slow them down but that's a whole different thread.

I was deadass about to cop one or the other until I seen that shit. Ended up finding a s8 all alone on a bus not long after. Fate brought us together. Think I'm getting with the pixel 4 once they get the kinks out tho.

Huawei is banned in the US. It is a Chinese company. US gov thinks the company will be sharing customer info/data with the Chinese government. Huawei phones use android sofware. They are trying to create their own OS but that is a up hill battle and will take time.

gotdamn those low light photo comparisons are nuts! That phone shit on every flagship out there in terms of the camera. I'm sure the other companies are trying to reverse engineer some shit like that as we speak

They outselling everything in Asia and competing in Canadian and European markets. Huawei is here to stay. As far as OS they just about to drop their own to have in pocket incase the us makes Google lock them out and it's not getting bad looks from anyone.

Until Trump is no longer in office, I don't think that ban Is being lifted. Besides Samsung, Huawei is one of Google's biggest customers. Google is not going out without a fight. Creating a whole new os is no small thing. They have to get third party apps to work with their stuff. Integrating mail and accounts to work with their os is gonna be tough. Takes time to. People are comfortably with what they have on their current OS. If they switch now, they will be missing a lot of appa for a while. They are also banned in Australia. US is putting pressure on UK to ban them as well. They haven't decided yet. We will just have to wait for them to drop that os. If it sucks, they will go back to google.

I reserve my God-given right to engage in ig'nant niggadom at times...

...and this time I want Future, Offset, Rick Ross, or Pusha to get one of these so I can hear some fye ass "Escobar trap phone" lines.

:ualreadyknow:
