Facebook Bans Alex Jones for 30 Days After Scrubbing Videos for Hate Speech Violations

Temporary though it may be, Facebook has suspended InfoWars’ chief conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from their platform for the next 30 days, and there may be harsher penalties in the future.

A Facebook representative released a statement to the media on Thursday night, saying they’ve removed four videos from pages affiliated with Infowars. They also confirmed the freeze on Jones’ account while saying that he and his social media admins might all be banned from Facebook forever if they continue to violate community standards.

“Our Community Standards make it clear that we prohibit content that encourages physical harm [bullying], or attacks someone based on their religious affiliation or gender identity [hate speech],” the spokesperson said. “We reviewed the content against our Community Standards and determined that it violates. All four videos have been removed from Facebook.”

While its unclear how many strikes this will take, Facebook has said in the past that they will remove Jones’ pages altogether if he continues to spout his lunacy and walk on thin ice. The news comes days after Jones’ YouTube account received a new strike and had some of his videos removed for community guideline violations on there as well.

Tucker Carlson Defends Alex Jones: ‘CNN is Trying to Squelch His Point of View’

On Thursday, Fox News Tucker Carlson defended Alex Jones by somehow drawing a connection between the Infowars conspiracy theorist and his former employee at the Daily Caller, now-CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins.

Infowars has been under pressure for the last few days due to a combination of content removal on YouTube, strikes for hate speech policy violations, and a freeze on their Facebook account. When Carlson spoke to conservative columnist Charles Hurt last night, the Fox host invoked this news by comparing it to how the White House disinvited CNN’s Collins from covering President Trump‘s press event this week in the Rose Garden.

CNN has been basically a martyr for free speech for the last 24 hours. At the same time they are telling us how important it is that people should be able to say what they think, they are agitating for Alex Jones to be pulled off YouTube. Now, I know we’re supposed to think that Alex Jones is way more radical than Bill Maher, Michelle Wolf, or Rosie O’Donnell, but he’s got a point of view, and CNN is trying to squelch his point of view.”

Hurt agreed with Carlson, saying CNN neglects to cover the alleged shadow-banning of conservatives going on on Twitter, but takes a celebratory tone over the fact that Jones and his fever swamp of conspiracy theories have run into hard times.

“I wish the left still defended free speech,” Carlson lamented.

A reminder: Jones was recently sued by parents of children massacred in the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting after his website InfoWars spread conspiracy theories that the children were “crisis actors” and that the shooting was a hoax.

White nationalists got stick together...

I cant get behind this because this how it starts. First Alex Jones, then everyone else whos posts makes waves. Next its us talking bout injustices the government or the police do.

CNN and Fox are “enemies” but they know how to get on code when reporting news on black people. Fuck them both.
