Welcome To aBlackWeb

do you make your ungrateful kids celebrate Kwanzaa?

The ā€œungrateful kidsā€ got a laugh from me lol
what i'm saying is alot of kids are programmed to look only to Dec. 25th to beg their parents for things they really don't deserve..... alot of kids could care less about Kwanzaa.

I remember when they were really trying to get this off when I was in elementary or middle school gave us the candles and everything lol. Brought that shit home to my parents one Christmas break and they were like "tf?" That was the end of kwanzaa for me lol.

Yeah that Afro-centrism movement had everybody trying to be African. And Africans couldnā€™t care less about us, lol.

Never celebrated Kwanzaa, never will. I just donā€™t see the point.

It came about at a time when Black Americans were trying to re-discover their African roots. The celebration wasn't meant to be something that anyone in Africa was a part of, but something for Black Americans to celebrate to connect with our heritage.

That was the point of it.

I pretty much already said that, but what was the point? Was Kwanza based on some religious practice in Africa or did somebody just create a hodgepodge of African-esque activities?
