Big L was cool and all but I never got tha hype for him to be honest…just like I’m sure there’s some of my favorite rappers that other niggaz would be like “naaah” 🤷🏽‍♂️

I always thought his flow/cadence seemed like it never “progressed” past that “old school boom bap” flow…he could definitely rap but just never was a super Big L fan…I don’t knock anybody for feelin’ different tho

His whole life never progressed past 99 so this argument is kinda irrelevant.

Enh…Bro sounded tha same as he did…to me at least…ever since I heard Children of the Corn in tha early/mid 90’s…DITC in tha mid 90’s and he last project in tha late 90’s…

Pun and Big had less time “with us” than L if we bein’ honest 🤷🏽‍♂️

Big L was hella nice. I was a fan when he dropped Put It On and MVP even though I ended up returning his debut album back to HMV. I'd probably put him in top 20. He is the ultimate What If for me (along with Stack Bundles).

Big L didn't make commercial songs that you could play at a nightclub that would pack the dancefloor. Nor did he make songs that got played on the radio.

I think commercial success plays a part when discussing top 10 MCs.
