Nah I don’t think so, if it cost a certain amount and it could be claimed as a loss. That would mean more to them than having it release and meeting budget. Probably would meet budget and generate a few more mill. As a tax right off it better for them.
 
Probably had no intention on ever releasing it no matter how it looked, probably ain’t even trash. They probably used their own marketing team to trash it to make it acceptable to not release. But because it exist, they could always go to the well and just plop a character from it in it. Like iron fist for marvel…no way anyone thought that was a good show
