BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Fraternal Order of Police for the Baltimore Police Department is “disappointed” in the portrayal of officers during a Saturday Night Live skit.

Lt. Gene S. Ryan, the president of the FOP, wrote an open letter to Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL, about the sketch that featured Lesli Jones and Ego Nwodim on Oct. 13. Nwodim is a Baltimore native.

The comediennes were wearing Baltimore Police Department uniforms during the skit.

“I’m writing this letter on behalf of the 4,300 members of the Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge no. 3, both active and retired, to express great disappointment over the distorted representation of the Baltimore Police Officers on your recent show, which aired October 13, 2018. The segment in question is entitles “Traffic Stop,” and included several members of your cast, including the shows’ host Seth Myers,” Ryan wrote.

We have sent the following letter to Mr. Lorne Michaels, producer of Saturday Night Live, on behalf of our members.

Although they said humor and laughter are necessary in their lives, Ryan said they took offense to the portrayal of their officers during the sketch.

The comediennes were wearing Baltimore Police uniforms and flirted with the man they just pulled over.

“As you are most likely aware, the Baltimore Police Department is currently a very beleaguered agency in the throws of massive amounts of criticisms and disrespect,” Ryan added. “Many of our members, especially out young ones, are struggling with their choice of career and we are losing good and credible members daily.”

“It is a difficult time in Baltimore and to portray our brave, hard-working members with such an inappropriate manner is very unfortunate,” he added.

Maybe if there weren't cops like this in departments across the country they might have a leg to stand on with this condemnation, but there are... Lots of them. Shit I've personally know a bunch of them back in Detroit.

Maybe what the Fraternal Order of Police needs to do is get their own members acting right before speaking out on a comedy skit.

the gender flip was brilliant....

i actually expected feminist to get offended first.....

you hit the nail right on the head... cops do this.. men cops do this shit...all the time and it's disgusting.....

especially with the power of the badge on display.. how many times have cops been caught up for raping women and all types of other disgusting shit like that ??

and you would think in this climate it would be difficult to pull off a satire about it without being too tasteless...

but they did it....

it wasn't the funniest skit in the whole world.. but it made me chuckle a little, and knowing that the hit dog immediately hollar'd i hope it's reoccurring....

but i can see how a lotta people might find it kinda offensive....fuck 'em tho

No idea what this is and didnt read the article but if it pissed of police it must be making factual points.
basically two black woman police sexually harassed a white male they pulled over and played it for laughs....

opposed to all the police that pull over women and sexually harass them in real life..........often white officers and black women,..........

They are just barking because they know it will get attention.. fake outrage for spite sake as well as attention is lame as fuck..

Its extremely rich when it comes from a high profile cesspool of a police department focusnon the internal affairs

they really don't need any attention.. they've been getting dragged through the media recently..

mad corrupt Baltimore cops been in the local news this year.....

i'm fairly certain at least 3 of them were for this exact shit..

this department is a fucking joke

Shit wasn't funny, but it made a real point.

That said, flips like this don't work, because men likely wouldn't give a fuck about a woman cop hitting on them, especially if she looks good.

Lol @ Thirsty Cops they reminded me of Monique and the other lady on Soul Plane lol

I watched it.

iChuckled.

The BDP need to get ALLLLLLLLL the way the fucc outta here wit their complaint. Its laughable when these police organizations wanna cry when folks expose their dirt.

why they didnt bring this energy to the actors portrayed as cops in the wire?
