Donald Glover fires back at Glassnote Entertainment Group over their ongoing royalty battle.
Donald Glover's been in a battle against his label Glassnote Entertainment Group over music royalties. There were initially reports that the label was suing Childish Gambino over streaming royalties although that was later deemed fake news. Instead, the label filed documents to have a judge make a decision between them. However, it looks like Glover has fired back at the label and claimed that they're taking a much bigger cut out of his royalties than they should be.
According to The Blast, Donald Glover is trying to shut down Glassnote Entertainment Group's claim that they're entitled to 50% of Childish Gambino's royalties. In new court docs, Glover says that he “intends to assert counterclaims” in order to get $700K in streaming royalties that he claims he's owed. Additionally, he said that an audit of the label "determined that, for specified periods, Glassnote withheld or underreported royalties and other payments that should have been paid” to Glover."
Elsewhere in the legal documents, Glover claims "Glassnote’s multiple breaches under the License Agreement concern, among other things, the taking of excess distribution fees, underreporting of international revenues, deduction of excess producer royalties, underreporting of merchandise sales, and undocumented manufacturing expense charges."
Aside from his legal battle, Childish Gambino shared his latest visuals for "Feels Like Summer" which was included on his Summer Pack that he dropped in early July.
