Released on September 8th 1998, this was Canibus’ debut album. There was a ton of hype and buzz surrounding Bis at this time, he was killing guest appearances between 96 and 98. He was initially introduced through the Lost Boyz and made his debut on their remix for Music Makes Me High, he also had standout verses on The Firm’s Desperados and on Beasts From The East, as well as the famous breakfast of champions freestyle with DMX, Big Pun, Mos Def etc, but his biggest collaboration led to one of the biggest battles in rap history 4321 with LL Cool J. This album was deemed a disappointment and gained a lot of mixed reviews today I’ll explore how this album has aged since then.

Track 1. Intro, is a skit of Canibus doing some computer hacking.

Track 2. Patriots featuring Free (from 106 & Park), produced by Donny & Cyrus. This is solid, Canibus was dope and Free was dope on here. No complaints 6.5/10

Track 3. Get Retarded, produced by Salaam Remi. I’m not liking this beat. There’s just too much going on with it. Canibus calling out wack rappers on this song. 6/10

Track 4. Negronometry, produced by Jerry Wonda. This samples Willie Hutch’s Brothers Gotta Work It Out. The best song on here so far, smooth beat and Bis was flowing on this. Talking about people doing silly things while not being in the best financial situation. 7/10

Track 5. Second Round KO featuring Mike Tyson, produced by Jerry Wonda. The infamous diss record towards LL Cool J over the aforementioned 4321 verse. This was the first single. This is one of the hardest diss tracks ever. 99% of your fans wear high heels. 7.5/10

Track 6. What’s Going On, produced by Jerry Wonda. I like this one. Bis is talking about gun violence. Good message. 7.5/10

Track 7. I Honor U featuring Jenny Fujita, produced by Wyclef Jean. This was the second single, this is a song about how Bis came to be from conception. Lol at rapping from the perspective of a sperm cell only Bis. This song isn’t bad though. 6.5/10

Track 8. Hype-nitis, produced by Jerry Wonda. This song is dope, this is similar to Biz Markie’s the Vapors. Talking about how people hate on you. 7/10

Track 9. How We Roll featuring Panama PI, produced by Clark Kent. This has the same sample as Tracy Lee and B.I.G Keep Ya Hands High or Hov What More Can I Say. I like this song. I don’t know who Panama PI is but he sounds like a bootleg Busta Rhymes. This kind of beat is perfect for Bis. 7/10

Track 10. Channel Zero, produced by Clark Kent. Another dope song. Clark laced Bis on this one. This song has a religious theme to it. 7.10

Track 11. Let’s Ride, produced by Jerry Wonda. I like the beat and Bis’ verses but the chorus is wack. I think this song is singlehandedly the reason this album got the negative reputation it got. 6/10

Track 12. Buckingham Palace, produced by Wyclef Jean. Bis is spitting but the beat and chorus is wack. These last two songs are bringing this album down smh. 5.5/10

Track 13. Rip Rock, produced by Wyclef Jean. Worse song on here. Wyclef fucked this album up 🤦🏿‍♂️ 5/10

Track 14. How Come featuring Wyclef Jean, produced by Wyclef Jean. This is a bonus song that only appeared on certain releases. This was the 3rd and final single. This is basically tin foil hat music, not terrible but I wouldn’t go out of my way to play this again. 6/10

This album had potential to be great had they mostly stuck with the sound that Clark Kent and Jerry Wonda provided. Wyclef literally sunk the album with a sound that didn’t mesh well with Canibus at all. Overall this is a solid album 6.5/10

I bought a bootleg vinyl record of Cannabis freestyles of him rapping over other people's beats. That's what Cannabis was good at.

He should of had a few songs like that, just freestyling to other people's beats.

Prolly my “disappointment” in an artist ever…I thought he had it…pause

This album had a few cuts I liked but for tha most part he made/makes music that is literally unlistenable to me smh

I had bought this, 2000 bc and rip the jacker. None of them are super memorable for me. Some dope verses here and there, but canibus chose the strangest concepts for songs. Was dope when he was just rapping to rap, but making a song he was never great at. Rip the jacker the only album that had pretty dope beats thanks to Stoupe of Jedi Mind Tricks.
