I'm curious how much dancing skills matter to an artist's overall legacy especially when after they die/retire. like with MJ, people definitely still mention his dancing but it's usually one of the last things they talk about in terms of his artistry.

That's probably something that would be mentioned on their performance skills at live shows....some singers can sang but let the dancers do all the work on stage
