Breakdancing Provisionally Added For 2024 Olympics

So they've announced that Breakdancing (officially B-Boying) will be a competition in The Olympics. While this is great for Hip Hop and will be interesting, the problem I have is that the new Breakdancing is all about power moves but they don't have any style.

I've posted some footage of the Rocksteady Crew from 1983/84 and some new footage from 2017. In my opinion, the new B-Boys have better moves, more power moves, but they don't have any style.

I think the Rocksteady Crew from 1983 would beat the new generation because they have more style and flavor.

If they can put rhythmic gymnastics and water ballet in as olympic events then breakdancing fits too. Niggas about to be mad about this though because I can guarantee you some Asians are going to with the gold medals. There is a reason this shit was introduced as the Olympics is hosted by an Asian country.

Also, I get the style argument, but nah, everything evolves. New school breaking is way more impressive. That said, it has become more of a sport than a dance, so maybe that's the difference.

Yeah but if you compare the links I posted, the new breakdancers have zero style. The moves are better, but they have no flavor.

The Rocksteady Crew had the core basics, but they incorporated a certain character, or personality into what they were doing.
 
I always check out red bull's youtube once a year to watch the breakdancing comp, that shit is dope. Bout some asian country but to dominate that shit
 
Niggas can't keep winning golds at damn near everything so let's make some shit that ain't a sport a sport and glorify it. I ain't watching that shit

Yeah, I get what you mean. I'm just saying that as it has evolved from dance competition to an actual sport, the way it is judged has changed too. Back then, the winner was just who the crowd liked more and style plays a lot into that. Now, there are actual scoring metrics that include style, but put a lot more emphasis on frequency of tricks, types of tricks, and how well the person performs the tricks. That's kinda how it has to be to be a fair sport. Breaking never would have gotten the chance to be an olympic sport if it stayed the old way. That said, there should be room for both.

i want to go to the one they have in france but never got around to it.

the reason the asians keep winning is their discipline.
