Black Thought - Noir

Black Thought is an incredible lyricist and his flow is always in the pocket.

But if he wants to be in the conversation, he needs to have some radio hits and club bangers on his project.

Give me two certified radio hits/club bangers and I could rearrange my top 10 and give him a spot.

Who cares about radio ? And he's not a club banger MC. Dude need a nice project done with decent to incredible beats and maybe some dope features. But I think the A list rappers scared

Yeah but without two radio hits/club bangers nobody will know the album is out and nobody will listen to it.

The science behind a radio hit/club banger is that the song is so popular that you're willing to take a risk and buy the album based on what you've heard.

Nowadays with streaming the game is different, but if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

I just want Tariq to put out a project with direction now. Dude can GO, no doubt about it. But I want to hear a series of tracks that either touch an issue or tell a story.

Somebody explain to me how you can have Nas somewhere in their/your top 10 (which I do) and not have Black Thought somewhere close to or in their top 10 (which I do...higher than Nas actually)....

1. Nas impacted pop culture more so than Black Thought
2. Nas always has singles that are catchy, he appeals to the masses more so than Black Thought
3. Nas battled Jay and won, Black Thought hasn't battled anybody

Lyrically and flow wise Black Thought might be as good as Nas, but there's a lot of intangibles that puts Nas over the top.

I respect your opinions but besides point 1 I don’t necessarily agree...I don’t think Nas has that many more “catchy singles” or crossover appeal than Black Thought and I personally don’t agree that Nas won tha battle so there’s that as well....

Your point about flow and lyricism is my main point that if Nas is not light years a head of BT in these other categories than how can Nas be top 5 and BT be so easily dismissed as just a “good” MC...don’t add up
