It's amazing sometimes when the conversation of GOAT comes up...a lot of folks START wit MJ. Instead of...Bill Russell.
I've seen Bill Russell get overlooked by PLENTY of these so-called analysts in that conversation. Imo there's GOAT...but then there's LEGENDARY. For what he's done on AND off the court...is why I put him in that category.

I hope HBO does a series around Bill Russell and the Celtics similar to Winning Time. There were a lot of larger than life characters on those teams.
It would be less centered around the Hollywood lifestyle and more around the civil rights struggle, which would be a different and interesting angle. Pull in people to play MLK, Malcolm, etc.

On another note, people need to stop with the slander on those old players, lol. Cousy was getting busy in those highlights!
This was a humbling flick. I'm ashamed to say he was never in my top 5 but now....it's unquestionable.
My respect for him, his game, his stature as a leader has grown 10 fold. 11 in 13 years is nothing to sneeze at. I get why he wasn't as commercially appealing as a Wilt, or a Dr J, or a Magic, or Jordan. His conviction and his willingness to stand as a man outside of the court is inspiring tho. Public is public, private is private......man
